1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how PitchStreet (“PitchStreet”, “we”, “us”), based in Santa Ana, California, USA, collects, uses and shares personal information on pitchstreet.com. It applies to visitors, members and people listed in our I Have Money directory. Please read it with our Terms of Service.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address, mobile phone number, password (stored only as a secure hash), and whether you are an I Have Money or I Need Money member.
- Profile details: company name, website and social links, state and country, a description, keywords, the amount you have available or need, your investment or funding preferences (industries, stages, regions, investor types, check sizes), a profile photo, and pitch materials such as business plans, decks, images, videos and video links.
- Messages and activity: messages, attachments, voicemail recordings, meeting requests and calendar events you create, reports you send, members you block, and the profiles you save as favorites, your private notes and your deal tracker.
- Wallet details (only if you use the optional wallet): balances, payments, pending-payment conditions, wire references, and the bank account details you give for withdrawals (stored encrypted).
- Things you send us: messages through the Contact page, upgrade requests and anything else you tell us.
Information collected automatically
- Sign-in and security records: IP addresses used to sign up and sign in, the approximate city, region and country of each sign-in (worked out on our own server from the IP address, using the DB-IP database), failed sign-in attempts, and one-time codes sent to your email.
- Your time zone, taken from your browser, so meeting times show correctly.
- Server logs: like all websites, our web server records requests (IP address, page, date and time, browser type) to keep the site secure and working.
Information from public sources. Our I Have Money directory includes listings about investment firms and investors that we compiled from publicly available sources (such as firm names, locations, websites, published contact details, investment focus and ranges). If a listing is about you, see “Your choices and rights” below.
3. How we use information
- To create and run your account, review profiles and changes, and show approved profiles in the directory.
- To deliver messages, voicemails, attachments, meeting requests and calendar invites between members.
- To suggest profile matches: we compare the details in profiles automatically and may email you new matches (you can turn this off).
- To send service emails: sign-in and confirmation codes, notices of new messages, profile decisions, meeting confirmations and reminders, wallet confirmations and receipts. These are part of the service; you can choose how often you get message emails in My account.
- To run the optional wallet, including confirming payments, crediting wires, sending withdrawals and keeping a ledger.
- To keep PitchStreet safe: preventing fraud, spam, scams and abuse, reviewing reports, finding duplicate or fake accounts, and enforcing our Terms.
- To answer your questions and requests, and to improve and fix the site.
- To comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, and protect the rights and safety of PitchStreet, our members and others.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. Who can see your information
- The public and other members see your approved profile in the directory: your first name and last initial, Profile ID, member type, location, description, amount, preferences and tags, photo and pitch materials you choose to publish. Your email address and phone number are not shown on your profile.
- Members you message see what you send them. Contact details inside messages are hidden from Free Members.
- PitchStreet staff (administrators) can see all account information, including messages, attachments, voicemails and sign-in records, to run, support and protect the service as described in our Terms. Every administrator action is recorded in an internal activity log.
- Another member and PitchStreet can see a wallet payment you send or receive with them.
5. Service providers and other sharing
PitchStreet runs on its own server (hosted in a data centre) and sends email from its own mail server. We share information with others only:
- With services built into pages: our pages load fonts from Google Fonts and code libraries from Cloudflare’s cdnjs, so those providers receive your IP address and browser details when you visit. Videos that members link to are played from YouTube (in privacy-enhanced mode where possible) or Vimeo, which then receive your IP address and may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
- With your email provider when we send you email, and with banks when we receive or send wires for the wallet.
- For legal reasons: when required by law, court order or a lawful request from authorities (including reports of suspected fraud or money laundering), or to protect PitchStreet, members or the public.
- If PitchStreet is sold or reorganised, to the new owner, who must respect this policy.
- With your permission in any other case.
6. Cookies and browser storage
- PSSESS: a session cookie that keeps you signed in while you use the site. It ends when you close your browser or sign out.
- ps_remember: set only if you tick “Remember me”, so you stay signed in for up to 30 days on that device.
- Browser storage: your browser keeps a few small settings on your device only, such as profiles you hearted before signing in, your calendar view, and announcements you dismissed.
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Video players from YouTube or Vimeo may set their own cookies when you play a video.
7. How long we keep information
- We keep your account and profile while your account is open.
- When an account or listing is deleted, it is hidden at once and kept for 30 days in case the deletion was a mistake, then removed for good together with its messages and history.
- Messages stay available to the other member in a conversation, as in any messaging service.
- Wallet ledger and payment records may be kept longer where financial, tax or anti-money-laundering laws require it, even after an account is closed.
- Our server makes full backups once or twice a week and keeps about the last five; deleted information can remain in these backups until they are replaced, usually within about five weeks.
- Failed sign-in attempts are cleared after one day; one-time codes expire within minutes.
8. Security
We protect information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, emailed sign-in codes, optional authenticator-app security, encrypted storage of withdrawal bank details, access checks on every private file, limits on repeated attempts, and an administrator activity log. No website can be perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us at once if you think your account has been misused.
9. Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile at any time in My account (changes to a live profile are reviewed before they show).
- Email choices: turn match emails on or off, and choose whether you get an email for every message, a daily summary, or none, in My account.
- Access, correct or delete: ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account, using the Contact page. We will confirm it is you before we act.
- Directory listings: if an I Have Money listing is about you, you can claim it, or ask us to correct or remove it on the Contact page.
- California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to request deletion and correction; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it for advertising); to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. You or an authorised agent can make a request on the Contact page or by phone.
- If you live in another country or state, you may have similar rights under local law, and we will honour them where they apply. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
10. International visitors
PitchStreet is operated from the United States, and information is stored and processed there. If you use PitchStreet from another country, you understand that your information will be transferred to and handled in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
11. Children
PitchStreet is only for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make a material change, we will tell members on the site or by email.
13. Contact us
